The mythical wave of Cabedelo do Douro, Porto.

Over 25 years ago local surfers and fishermen
often watched a perfect peeling left and right
breaking off an island of sand right in front of
the Douro river mouth.

After the construction of the breaker wall at the
mouth of the river Douro to allow safe passage of
larger ships, the flow of water from the river was
forever changed. And the wave wasn’t seen breaking
Since 2002.

After a huge storm struck Portugal, the sand came back
And the wave broke for the first time in almost 25 years.
This is it’s story.
